BIOGRAPHY
Singer/songwriter Emrand Henry hails from the Caribbean Island of St. Lucia.
He was discovered at a singing competition, âCable & Wireless Starquestâ in 2003 where he won with his original composition âWhat is going on?â This award became the gateway to many opportunities for the young and upcoming artiste who as part of his winnings, made a special guest appearance on BETâs 106 & Park. Since then he has had many a main stage performance regionally and internationally which has given him the opportunity to share the stage with the likes of Sherwin Gardner, Monty G, Maxi Priest, Christafari and Prodigal to name a few.
In October 2008 he launched his 15 track CD âNo Retreat, No Surrenderâ produced by Francis âLeeboâ DeLima of Heights Studio in St. Lucia. He continued to release many singles with various producers nationally, regionally and internationally, so hence his songs have been getting airplay globally.
In February 2010 he became a fulltime professional artiste and traveled to United States of America and Canada for a six month stint. He took part in a concert in Montreal and shared the stage with Jamaican Juniour Tucker and so continued to expand his fan base. Emrand had a wonderful experience going into studio with Jamaican producer Stephen Murphy in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he released his second album âLine Up Di Troops Demâ. The nickname for this album is the St. LuciaâJamaica connection due to the collaboration with some of Jamaicaâs top Gospel artistes which enabled his fan base to grow in the Jamaican community.
Whilst in New York performing at Gospel concerts and church services and functions he won two awards. On June 5th, 2010 he was given an Award by the City of New York for unique personal achievement in his professional endeavours. It was quoted âThe city recognized that they have an outstanding citizen, one with worthy of the esteem of both community and the great city of New Yorkâ. The second award he received on June 6th, 2010 whilst performing at the prestigious annual Hopeton Lewis Caribbean Gospel Music Awards also in New York.
Emrand prides himself in singing only original compositions, which has made him to be a household name at home and abroad. His lyrics always carry positive and uplifting messages in a variety of genres e.g. Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, R&B and Zouk. His diversity allows him to reach out to every culture and demographic.
