Possessing a true passion for music, coupled with an unparalleled gift of singing, Joyceland McCaster stepped out on the Holy Spirit’s leading and formed the now popular gospel singing group, Joyceland McCaster and Victorious Soul (J.M.V.S.). In addition to herself, the group includes Kimberly Jones, Charmaine Bridges, Brandon Ball, and Tawanda Higgs.
Since its beginning stages in July 2007, up until this present day, God has greatly blessed J.M.V.S. As the group began to make personal appearances, it did not take long for its name to hit the gospel circuit, for it was obvious that God’s hands were mighty upon the group. Carried by the winds of the anointing, their melodious, spirit-filled tones have captivated many audiences and penetrated many hearts with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Under the leadership of Joyceland, and the management of her husband, Javen, many doors have opened for the group. They have had the esteemed honor of opening for such greats as Yolanda Adams and Fred Hammond. They have also performed at many social and civic events such as for the grand opening of the Augusta Regional Airport; the Undisputed Queens of the A.U.G. (Augusta, GA), hosted by Kismet Entertainment; and the Gospel Heritage Awards in Atlanta Georgia. They were also nominated the best gospel group in Augusta, Georgia, 2010 (Metro-Spirit Newspaper), and have participated in the Word Network F.O.C.U.S. (Find Out Can U Sing), climbing their way up to the semi-finals. With over 17,000 hits on a single youtube video for “Like the Dew in the Morning” by Judith McAllister, it is no small wonder that they were recently nominated for an Urban Inspirational Award in Charlotte, North Carolina. Beyond the musical walls, J.M.V.S. has formed a teen bible study, which targets girls 12 years of age and up. It is an open forum where girls can gather and candidly express their inner concerns.
The group’s most recent feat is the release of its first album, The Journey.... And a journey, it has been! The Holy Spirit planted this project in Joyceland’s heart over three years ago, and through seemingly impossibilities, frustrations, and a share of disappointments, Joyce refused to allow the seed to die. Through it all, she journeyed on, nurturing the implanted seed with prayer, and watering it with her own sweat and tears. And on this evening, The Journey is complete, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, J.M.V.S. has been raised Victorious.
Realizing that the work is far from over, J.M.V.S. pauses in celebration and thanksgiving to God for this monumental milestone that He has allowed the group to accomplish. On this evening, Joyceland and the group members unite their voices, saying, “Thank You Lord for your abiding presence and faithfulness every step of the way. You are our Victorious Song!”
